mom and dad... i did it!

everyone (ethan) should try and seek out a screening of punk: attitude, don letts' documentary on the evolution of punk. it's as good of a chronicle as anyone could expect for a movie with an hour and a half run time. henry rollins is actually funny and cool in it. its theory on the evolution of the "punk sound" is quite similar to that advanced in please kill me, but that book is every record dork's cream dream so i'll let that slide. i don't know if the film has been widely released yet, it may still be on the festival circuit, but keep your eyes peeled.

bonus points: covering the slits, magazine, p.i.l., dna, james white, and the no wave scene
deductions: the absence of wire, crime, and eighties noise bands

this being said... who wants to assist me with making a documentary on the eighties underground noise scene. big black, scratch acid/jesus lizard, butthole surfers, touch and go records, etc.?

final note: does anyone (ethan?), know the title of the book that just came out in the uk about the early post-punk scene?
Comments:
the book is called "rip it up and start again" and it's by simon reynolds. you'd have to import it at this point, there's gonna be a US version next year but it'll be cut down some. when i get around to it, i'm buyin' me a copy. it looks fuckin' great.
